Tewo Jegede was called to the Nigerian Bar in January 2001 after obtaining her LLB degree from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria in 1999. She started her working experience in First Bank of Nigeria Plc. as an NYSC staff and later commenced post NYSC working experience as Company Secretary/Legal Adviser in Flying Eagle Shipping Company Limited in 2002. Subsequently, she worked in various law firms as Associate Counsel before joining the Lagos State Judiciary in 2005 as a Research Assistant attached to a Judge at the Lagos State High Court under the auspices of a British Council/DFID initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State. She was formally trained in Court Administration by Ijeoma & Associates, an indigenous training outfit based in New Jersey, USA.
She has since held many positions including, Company Secretary/Legal Adviser at Daltrade Nigeria Limited and presently the Head, Legal Services & Ag. Head Human Resources at FBN Mortgages Limited, a renowned Primary Mortgage Bank in Nigeria and subsidiary of First Bank of Nigeria Limited. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria and a student member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. Her core areas of competence include company corporate affairs and regulation with specialisation in corporate governance matters, real estate financing and general commercial practice.
In her quest to break new frontiers, she proceeded to the prestigious Harvard University for acquisition of skills in business negotiations. Her training at the Harvard Law School has enhanced performance in her current position, particularly in business negotiation/dispute resolution. Her stellar performance in her present position also earned her a nomination for the esteemed First Bank of Nigeria Limited CEO Annual Merit Award (CAMA) in 2012.
She is happily married to a Lawyer/Banker with two lovely children.
